Andrea Sciarretta is Associate Professor in General and Applied Entomology at the Department of Agricultural, Environmental and Food Sciences, University of Molise, Italy. He is/has been coordinator of research projects founded by WHO, UE, CREA and is a member of several national and international Scientific Associations.

Main research interests are in spatial ecology, spatio-temporal dynamics and distributional models of insect in complex agro-ecosystems; integrated plant protection in fruit crops with the use of methods alternative to chemicals (mating disruption, mass trapping, attract & kill); pest monitoring and trapping tools.

He participated to the project Fruitflynet in developing an automated system for Medfly monitoring and control.

Andrea is the coordinator of the Unimol Research Unit in the project Fruitflynet-ii.
